(AsiaGameHub) – Richest open event in European poker history – all eyes now turn to summer WSOP, beginning May 26 in Las Vegas
The World Series of Poker (WSOP®) today extends its congratulations to Marius Kudzmanas for securing European poker’s most sought-after honor: that of World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe Main Event Champion.
Kudzmanas’s journey to the title was defined by his calculated, aggressive style, especially when commanding a large chip lead. For his remarkable performance, he earned the massive €2,000,000 first-place prize and the distinguished, custom-made WSOP Europe Main Event Champion’s gold bracelet.
Although this win is by far the most significant of his career, it is not Kudzmanas’s first WSOP gold bracelet; his notable poker record already features two online bracelet victories. As the new WSOP Europe Main Event Champion, he has demonstrated a command of the live poker stage equal to his prowess online.
This year’s WSOP Europe exceeded all forecasts, cementing its status as the continent’s leading poker showcase. The festival was an international gathering, attracting competitors from over 80 nations vying for 15 WSOP gold bracelets and more than €39,500,000 in prize money, with 15,779 total entries across all bracelet events.
The Main Event alone made history as Europe’s largest open tournament, creating an unmatched total prize pool of €13,085,000 from a huge field of 2,617 entries.
Another standout moment saw Switzerland’s Anna Eggenberger secure her first gold bracelet by triumphing in the inaugural WSOP Europe €1,000 Ladies Championship, prevailing over a 197-player field in the largest ladies championship ever staged outside Las Vegas.
“We are overjoyed by the extraordinary success of this year’s WSOP Europe, which has established new benchmarks for poker on the continent,” stated Ty Stewart, Chief Executive Officer of WSOP. “The passion and record-breaking participation, especially for the historic €5,300 Main Event, has been unmatched. Congratulations to Marius Kudzmanas for inscribing his name in the record books as our latest champion.”
“This iteration of WSOP Europe was our finest to date, and we extend our sincere gratitude to all the players, dealers, staff, partners, and media who united to create such a unique festival. A fundamental WSOP objective is to constantly enhance our events – with that focus, we are eagerly anticipating the start of the action next month in Las Vegas!” added Gregory Chochon, Chief Operating Officer of WSOP.
